Cut off upper lows happen from time to time and when they do they often cause some prolong periods of nasty weather. One such low is forecast to park around Chicago for the next 5-7 days. That places the Northeast on the "wet" side of this storm, just what they don't need after Irene and Lee. NYC & Philly both have had over 2 feet of rain during the past 2 months ! More rain is not what they need. What this low will do for us is bring down drier and slightly cooler air for the weekend into early next week. It also blocks the Gulf from any tropical systems for the rest of this month. Models have backed off developing a tropical system in the Gulf during the first week in October. I'll feel better once we get some real cold air down into the Gulf that cools the waters down. But for now, I've asked the band to start playing as the Fat Lady may be singing as soon as Monday. In the short term, a weak front may trigger some showers Thursday into early Friday. Drier air filters in for Saturday & Sunday resulting in cooler nights (50s NS, 60s SS) and pleasantly warm days. Enjoy!

I sure hope that Fatlady is warming up her voice! I'd sure like to restock my freezer soon! We stop stocking around early June. I am excited that we did not have a hurrication trip this year! Prayers were answered thus far. Sure will continue to pray each and every year to come! Thanks Bob for another well reported season!
