It's over...or is it?

Yep, Meteorological Winter is over finishing as the 5th warmest and 5th driest in New Orleans' history. History also tells us we still can get some late season freezes thru about March 20th in the city and April 1st on the North Shore. Brutal cold (-35 to -40) is building up in Northern Canada and all it would take is a deep East Coast trough to bring that chill down to us. No signs of that for the next 5-7 days, but by the mid part of March we could get a late blast from the North. Before then, our next real cold front arrives Saturday morning with some showers followed by cooler and drier air for Sunday & Monday. The chill won't be drastic (60s highs, 40s lows) but it will be the "feel good" air.

Big tornado outbreak over night and into the early morning hours killed at least 9 people. Do you have your Midland severe weather alert radio from Walgreens? It's a little money (about $30) that could save you a lot (your life!). This is severe weather season across the Gulf South.

Hi Bob.
Can you tell us if after a non-winter whether the summers have been exceptionally hot or not? Would appreciate knowing, and thanks for the wonderful information on your blog. First time writing, but have been reading for years.
