"Brutal" Hurricane Season...

I remember back in May reading the headlines that didn’t just call for an above normal hurricane season, but a BRUTAL season.   Here we are into September without any Hurricanes in the Atlantic Basin so far and that has all the experts scratching their heads to explain why.  Could it be something as simple as cycles?   After 3 very active seasons with above normal/average named storms, we were due for a below normal year.  Nah…makes too much sense.  Even though we have 3 months left in the 2013 season, history shows us that only in 1893 did a major (Cat3+) hurricane cross the Louisiana coastline after the 1st week in October.  Sure we can see a late October storm (Juan 1985) but it won’t be one we have to evacuate.  Signs are still pointing to a 2-3 week burst of activity, but I’m hoping the threat stays out of the Gulf.  Stay tuned!

Locally, a weak frontal boundary will approach us and bring a better chance for showers Tues-Thursday, however, we’ll stay with summer-like heat all week, 90+.
