My friends at WeatherBell Analytics continue to hint at a much colder & snowier Winter (Dec-Feb) for the eastern 2/3 of the nation. From the simple fact that it has been many years since we have seen a hard freeze (below 25 degrees) south of Lake P. makes me realize we are “overdue” for a cold Winter. Hopefully this recent cold spell sounded the alarm for those of you who haven’t done the basic freeze preps for your house. 1) caulking is not expensive yet it keeps the cold out & the heat in. 2) Faucet covers are inexpensive yet can prevent an expensive plumbing bill. 3) Weather stripping around doors is again inexpensive, but very effective at keeping the cold out. 4) Pipe wrapping insulation for exposed pipes is a no brainer. It’s not brain surgery yet I continue to be amazed at how many don’t do the basics until the real freeze threat arrives. This will be another mild to warm weekend to get your house & yard Winterized. Don’t waste it…
