Today's high of 50 was 15 degrees higher than yesterday and Friday's high could be another 15 degrees warmer. That will be welcomed by most after a start today that began in the teens on the North Shore and low to mid 20s south of Lake P. We will see a stretch of 5-7 days in the 60s & 70s probably resulting in widespread daily fog as coastal water temps have dipped into the 40s. Don't get use to the warmer temps. as the longer range models bring back the Arctic cold again for the second and 3rd week of February. Could it be as cold as this past chill? Absolutely if you go by past all time record lows. The coldest ever at Audubon park was 7 degrees on Feb. 13th in 1899 so it has happened in the past. My gut tells me this Winter's chill will be difficult to break until we see the higher sun angles of March & April. Old Man Winter will keep on rolling... Stay tuned.
In the short term, friday will be noticeably warmer by midday. We'll see lots more clouds (saw none today) and it'll be a different feel as the humidity (dew points) increases. Time for golf!
