Southern Ice Storm...

In my 35+ years living in New Orleans, MAYBE 5 of those Winters saw sleet and/or snow.  Rarely do we see freezing rain since the temperature & moisture usually arrive too soon or too late.  However, Tuesday could see the rare time where Mother Nature comes together "just right".  From past experiences up north, an ice storm is far worse than a snow storm.  The biggest issue comes from power outages due to downed lines by falling tree limbs.  Hopefully, that won't happen for us, but the North Shore appears primed for a serious blow.  The South Shore should be OK thru midday, but from 3 pm thru mid-morning Wednesday, travel could be dangerous.  Chances for significant snow (2"+) are confined North of the Lake but we could see a short snow burst between 5-7 PM before it's all over. Stay tuned & be smart.

This WORRIES me... Am I the only one who has put this together from RECENT events and memory...? In 2004, we had snow on Christmas day... and if memory serves me, had a day or 2 of SLEET the winter of 2004... WHAT DID HE WHAVE THE SUMMER OF 2005? KATRINA!!!! OK, NOW... IN 2012, WE HAD A LITTLE SNOW FALL HERE ON THE NORTHSHORE THAT WINTER... WHAT DID THAT FOLLOW UP WITH THE SUMMER OF 2013...? ISSAC...! Issac was no where near as bad as Katrina, he was only a small Cat 1, but he SAT OVER US FOR 3 DAYS!!!

I gotta ask Bob and whoever else might know this one... IS THERE A TIE IN WITH WINTERS DOWN HERE WHERE WE HAVE RARE SNOW/SLEET EVENTS, AND HURRICANES THE VERY NEXT SUMMER??!?!

Yes tell us Bob does a cold winter mean we can expect a Hurricane this summer?

JetfireK, I didn't just mean a cold winter... I mean an UNUSAL COLD winter... where we have sleet...snow...ice.. like THIS winter.. And the winter of 2004 when we had 3 inches of snow Christmas day here on the Northshore... then KATRINA the next Summer... or the winter of 2012... where we had another snow/sleet even.. then last year we had ISSAC...

Bob, what are YOUR thoughts on this??!?!
