California Rain Could become Our Pain?

Yep, after 3 days of "brutal" cold we will finally get back to above normal temps, but not for long.  Drought busting rains have arrived for California and long range models are hinting that a disturbance off the West Coast will race eastward and develop a western Gulf Low next Tuesday.  That means we could see a heavy rain potential (2-3"+) for Tuesday PM into Wednesday AM.  Fortunately, the bitter sub-zero arctic chill has retreated back into Canada so the air that follows the low will be of Pacific origins (Milder).  While it appears the next 5-7 days will not bring any freeze threats, we still could see another Arctic surge in the 10-14 day time frame that might descend back into the Gulf South.  Winter is far from over.

In the short term, a fast moving upper disturbance will trigger a few over night showers that should be to our east by daybreak.  IF we can break the low cloud deck and get into PM sunshine, PM highs could flirt with 60.  Sunday looks warmer (65-70) with little wind before clouds return and we start to get nasty again next week.   Stay tuned!
