The Folly of the Five Day...

A drastic weather change is coming over night that will make the next 3-4 days very uncomfortable to be outdoors.  After highs 75-80 over this weekend, we'll have temps struggling to get out of the 40s for Lundi Gras & Mardi Gras with brisk winds making it feel even colder.  Looking back about a week ago, models were "predicting" that Fat Tuesday would have highs in the 60s with no rain.   Which goes back to the public believing that the 7 day "forecast" has much skill...which it doesn't.  In fact, beyond 3 days I find the 5-7 day "outlook" often flip-flopping every day.   Yet in this market we have "the road to Mardi Gras" giving a 2 week outlook which is utterly nonsense & totally foolish.  It's about as accurate as the early season Hurricane Predictions.  Sorry, just needed to vent.

As we are now in Meteorological Spring, this week will feel more Winter-like.  Another Polar Vortex ( # 8?) is gripping much of the eastern 2/3 of the U.S. making life miserable for many.  This pattern is likely to continue well into April & perhaps even May with some pauses of warmer air  in between cold blasts.  Fortunately for us, the higher sun angle should moderate the chill so that we stay above freezing, but feel colder due to the wind chill.  Bundle up folks.  Get those sweaters and heavy coats ready!
