Long Night For Deep South...

Last Friday SPC issued an outlook calling for a many day tornado outbreak.   It began on Saturday in the Carolinas where one young child died (1st fatality of year) and was followed by a bigger outbreak on Sunday with the year's 1st long track (80+ miles) tornado in Arkansas that killed 16.   More storms developed today and continues tonight with many tornadoes in Mississippi & Alabama.  I'm afraid we will discover more dead as several cities have been hit.  Fortunately, so far, south Louisiana has been spared.  It appears the worst of the storms continues to shift to our east and our attention will focus more on heavy rainfall over night into Tuesday PM.    A large upper low centered in Kansas is the main trigger for all of the stormy weather.  It will slowly drift to the east this week producing more strong storms & flooding rains across the Ohio Valley & much of the SE.   Our weather will improve by Wednesday & should be nice for the second weekend of Jazz Fest.  Stay tuned!
