More Cold heading To South...No fooling!

As we begin April, we start thinking flowers, green grass & warmer temperatures.  That is happening over most of the South right now, but a look at the longer range (10-14 days) computer models indicate several more blasts of Canadian Air will invade the lower 48.  The higher sun angle usually tempers the chill by the time it gets to us, but I would suggest you not pack away all your sweaters just yet.  Because of all the ice that was over the Great Lakes this Winter, water temps will stay chilly for a long time keeping land areas around them cooler for much of this Spring.   This Winter's chill has keep tornado activity nationwide way below normal.  There should be the normal ramp up in April & May, but it's not likely to approach the long term averages anytime soon.

Locally, the next 2 days will be windy & warm as highs may top 80 degrees.  Rain chances will be near zero until a front arrives on Friday.  IF the front pushes far enough offshore, Saturday could stay dry before we get stormy on Sunday.  Some of those storms could be strong to severe.  Stay tuned!
