One down, 25 to go...

We have finished the 1st week of the 2014 Hurricane Season on a quiet note as NHC thankfully did not jump the gun and name Arthur last week.   it appears the EastPac season is off to a roaring start as Christina was named tonight.  My memory tells me when the EastPac is active, the Atlantic Basin is not.   let's hope that continues for many more months.   This morning's run of the GFS brings a storm into the Gulf in the 10-14 day time frame.   This model continually over forecasts development beyond  7-10 days so I am not to concerned until i see the Euro. do the same.

In the short term,  last week's upper ridge has left so I expect to see more daytime heating type showers on Tuesday with VIPIR bringing a late PM line of storms into SE LA/MS.   With more clouds and showers around, perhaps highs will stop in the upper 80s?   Don't expect any real cooling until late September at the soonest.  We are in real summertime now.
