Hot July weekend, Cooler next Week?
Usually once we get into July & August, cold fronts have a difficult time pushing off the LA/MS Gulf coast as they lose their upper steering support. Ocassionally, we have seen a summer front push thru, (August 1983) and a tropical system (Alicia) develop along the old boundary down in the Gulf. Models are indicating that such a front will push off our coast by early next Thursday but it's way too early to know if anything might develop. With such strong westerly winds aloft, I suspect anything that would form to be swept away to our east and be a Florida problem. Until then, it looks like a mini-heat wave will develop over us Sat-Tuesday before cooling rains arrive next week. Stay tuned!

Yes a lot of people are posting on various sites that the polar vortex is coming back next week over the Chicago area. I know cold fronts in the summer usually just means lower humidity for us and no afternoon showers to cool us off...
Lets hope we see some cooler weather out of it...it would be nice for our area...
