The Streak is Over...

The longest streak on record during modern times has ended with Cat. 4 Harvey crossing the U.S. coastline just north of Rockport.  The last major hurricane making U.S. landfall was Wilma almost 12 years ago.  AGW Alarmists will somehow tie this storm into global warming despite this unprecedented streak of no major hurricanes.   There are some good things to report tonight.  The storm is coming inland over sparsely populated SE Texas missing the major cities so far.  As his winds decrease, heavy flooding rains become the main concern as computer models again show Harvey stalling & making a loop before heading to the north.  The newest guidance indicates a more likely turn to the north WEST of Houston on Monday.  This should keep the main impacts far to our west.  What we need to watch is whether Harvey loops back out over the Gulf as this would allow the storm to stay strong.  Also, any eastward motion could bring Harvey closer to us.  This does not appear likely and NHC has moved the “cone of error” farther to our west.  Bottom line…this remains a Texas storm with possible impacts for western Louisiana.   Not out of danger yet, but I’m feeling better with this latest information.  Suggest you postpone any trip to Houston or cities farther to the west until Harvey finally leaves later next week.

Computer models are now developing a weak low over north central Florida into a tropical system tomorrow heading it up to the Carolina coast possibly as another hurricane by Sunday.  As long as these systems stay away from us, they will be someone else’s problem.  We have had our share of misery over the last 10-15 years.  We need some relief before another storm comes.   Stay tuned!
