North Slope Getting Colder...

For the past 2 weeks, the core of the Arctic chill has been centered over eastern Canada while Alaska has been seasonally cold.  I noticed tonight that the North slope around Barrow has plunged to 15-20 degrees below zero.   My memory tells me when Alaska gets frigid, look our here in about 10-12 days.  My thinking is our first week in December could turn really cold, much like back in 2008 when we had a 1-2" snowfall on the South Shore.  It appears we'll see an active pattern continue with several areas of low pressure bringing snow to the plains & Great Lakes  during the next 7-10 days.   One such weak disturbance is moving through tonight with another arriving late Sunday.   Look for us to jump into the 70s this weekend before another Arctic blast brings more near freezing air for next week.  The West Coast is finally getting into their rainy season and that should put out all fires.  I suspect their next worry will be mudslides.

Hope you enjoyed being with family this Thanksgiving.   The holidays are always special times of the year and I look forward to hearing the Christmas classics on the radio the next 4 weeks.  Perhaps the weather will cooperate and make us really feel like Christmas?   That's OK as long as it doesn't get severely cold (pipe busting) and last too long.  Stay tuned!
