As mentioned in previous blogs, the timing issue of when the rains move through would be very difficult to predict all this week. I feel for all the Krewe members who work so hard and pay so much to make their parade special for all the parade goers. It's not often that all parades during the mainly 2 weeks of Carnival stay dry, but this year has been really bad for many. The only real changes coming appear to be a delay in the arrival of the Arctic front, now not likely until sometime Sunday afternoon. That means Saturday's parades probably will be OK along with the early parades on Sunday. Bacchus AT THIS TIME looks to have some serious issues as there could be a line of severe weather (squall line) ahead of the front with temperatures plunging from near 80 to the 50s by parade time. Both Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras still look dry but very cold (40s) and breezy. If it's sunny, that would help. I remember way back in the 80s I was anchoring Ch. 8s Mardi Gras coverage in Metairie with the late Ron Hunter. Ron insisted we wear tuxedos despite the highs never getting out of the 30s. What a miserable day that was, but as you know, the show must go on. Stay tuned!
Went out fishing with Capt. Hylton the past two days. This is a tough time of the year to fish since live bait is difficult to find. We didn't get our limits, but caught a respectable 35 nice trout. I'm looking forward to the Spring trout run in April & May. Should be exciting.
