I'm sure many of you remember the jingle orange growers used back when we were young..." A day without Orange Juice was like a day without sunshine". Never gave it much thought until later in life when I began to notice when a weather pattern got locked in and we went day after day without sunshine. I'd get depressed, lethargic, cranky, irritable, yada, yada, yada. Today began like it was going to be another day without sunshine, but Shelby promised clouds would clear and indeed they did. What a difference in feeling. What a change in attitude. Sunshine really does make a big difference. Of course I headed home to a tall glass of orange juice, some cranberry juice & a little vodka. Does it get any better?!!!
NWS says our dry pattern should last perhaps into early next week. That would be great news for this weekend's parade in Metairie. As previous blogs mentioned, several weak fronts will keep bringing in drier surface air that will make for chilly mornings with mild afternoons & lots of sunshine! Clouds will increase over the weekend as south winds return bringing back the muggies and warmer air. We could approach 80 by Sunday. Don't put those sweaters away just yet as models are hinting another strong cold front is coming for NEXT week. Most folks will use the warmer weekend to head on over to your favorite garden center (Perino's!) and start adding in more blooming flowers. Spring officially arrives Wednesday at 4:58 PM. Stay tuned!
