A Mostly Dry Week...

We saw some limited sunshine today and it probably was enough for all those watching the Metairie Irish parade.   I was out playing tennis with my Billy Jean and must admit, though cool, it felt good once we started moving around.    You could tell the humidity was low and there was a good feel to the air.   Most of this week should stay dry with only minor surges of re-enforcing cool air coming in.   Hopefully we'll start to see fewer high clouds and more sunshine as the week progresses.   Our next real rain chance isn't likely before next Saturday.  Frankly, we don't need any rain right now.   My flower gardens are blooming responding to the cool nights and longer daylight.    We have about another 6-8 weeks to enjoy before the summer-like heat arrives.   Maybe we'll be lucky like last year and have Spring continue well into May?

The Mississippi is cresting here, but another minor surge is approaching Memphis with high water all the way back past Cairo, IL.    The Army Corps of engineers will slowly close some bays in the Spillway, but I expect it'll stay open all through April and into May.   The only impacts will be on fishermen in Lake Pontchatrain and around the mouth of the River and river traffic that must deal with the fast moving currents.  For the rest of us, the levees are our friend!   Stay tuned!
