Today's parades had a great weather day, but as predicted for many days, Sunday has some issues. It will begin on the warm side and stay there well into the afternoon hours. An Arctic cold front is coming as it still appears the best chances for rain/storms will be between 2-6 PM. Behind the front Sunday evening the temps will plunge into the 50s and into the 40s by daybreak on Monday. SPC (Storm Prediction Center) believes there could be an outbreak of severe storms ahead of this front but the bullseye (higher chances) for strong storms will be to our north and east. Rainfall behind the front should end quickly so Bacchus should parade in dry conditions but it'll be windy and colder. Lundi Gras will see filtered sunshine with highs struggling to top 50 with Mardi Gras sunny & crispy cold with highs 50-55. IF you are dressed for it, it should be OK for parade watchers. A light freeze is likely north of Lake P. on Wednesday before a rapid warm up returns for Thursday & Friday.
The Spillway is working its magic as the Carrollton gage showed no change in level since yesterday. The crest will reach Memphis on March 6th and arrive here on/near March 13th. This is not a major flood, but more rain storms are forecasted to keep coming during the next 10-14 days over soaked areas to our north. California is getting hammered by storm after storm and they should have no water shortages for the coming dry season. What they will have is another active fire season as all this rain will produce a bumper crop of vegetation that will turn into fuel during fire season next Fall. The Rockies keep getting addition snowfall and the ski areas are loving it. What a change from last year. Stay tuned!
