It Has Happen Before...
Our current spell of delightful weather will end Saturday night as a strong cold front will bring back sweaters & jackets for Sunday & Monday. Earlier this week, David was the only one predicting Sunday's highs would stay in the 50s as guidance had temps in the 60s. But the later model runs have gotten colder and we could even see temps in the 40s by daybreak on Sunday. Since our normal high is 75 as we reach April, one would think highs staying in the 50s would be unheard of with the longer days and higher sun angle. However, I remember back in the early 80s, we had a young weathercaster named Nancy Russo doing a remote from Chalmette in early April and, despite all day sunshine, the high never got out of the 50s. Watching Nancy shiver in the strong gusty winds made me glad I was inside. Since clouds are likely to linger all day Sunday into Monday, staying in the 50s should not be a problem. The chill won't last very long as the warm up starts Tuesday and we should be 70+ by Wednesday. Some showers could develop in the warm sector on Saturday, but our better chances for rain happen with the front before dawn on Sunday. My garden could use a good soaking, but rainfall totals should be less than an inch. Most of next week will be dry until another front brings some showers for Friday & Saturday. Stay tuned!
