Spring Preview Coming to Many...

As expected today's severe weather was far to our north as the surface low and upper air dynamics/energy are tracking west of Chicago.   Another storm will come our of the Rockies on Tuesday and follow a similar track, perhaps even farther to the west & north.   This will allow warm, moist air to surge all the way up to the Great Lakes early next week despite the fact Winter isn't over until March 21st.     For us, a weak front will approach us on Sunday increasing our shower chances mainly north of Lake P.   This front will return northward on Monday and our main weather issue will be daily morning fog.  Expect highs to flirt with 80 for the next 5-6 days before our next cold front arrives late on Thursday.   We will cool down following that, but it is not an Arctic front.   Farther down the road is another strong cold front for the last week in March so don't put away your sweaters and jacket just yet.  You won't need them this week, but...

With around 200 out of the 350 bays opened on the Spillway, the rise in the river here in New Orleans has slowed.  The crest is approaching Vicksburg and should reach here Wednesday or Thursday.  Only a slow fall is occurring upriver so expect the Spillway to stay open well in April.    I'm waiting for my Spring allergies to kick in any day as everything is blooming.   Have tried many solutions ( Bragg's Vinegar, Cod Liver Oil) for the arthritis in my fingers with no success.  Am trying soaking golden raisins in gin and eating 10/day.   So far no luck, but I must admit when I increase the dosage to 15-25 raisins, I do feel better!  Stay tuned!
