Winter Not Over, Record Warmth First...

Today's high of 83 set a new record and it appears we could see more records fall before a return of seasonally cooler air arrives by Friday.   A weak frontal boundary has stalled across south LA/MS and there could be a 15-20 degree difference in temps on Monday between the North & South shores.   That front will either dissipate or retreat northward on Tuesday and highs should stay 80-85 through Wednesday.  A cold front will pull by during Thursday starting the cool down, but the front could stall lingering some cold rain showers into Friday.   We'll need sweaters and jackets behind this front, but until it gets here, it's t-shirts, shorts & tank tops.   RIGHT NOW, guidance indicates the front should clear us for the St. Patrick's parades coming this weekend.    It will be noticeably cooler (60-65) but dry.

Long range computer models are bringing back the east coast upper trough for the last 10-15 days of this month, but the good news is the source region (Canada) for cold air has moderated considerably.  Western Canada was above freezing this afternoon with the bitter cold (below zero) confined to areas around Hudson Bay.  I put back up my remodeled bird condo yesterday and it didn't take the flying creatures long to start building nests.   I love Fall because the cooler temperatures after a long summer are refreshing.   However, there is something about seeing Spring reenergize Mother Nature that's exciting.    My next project is my garden which is blooming like crazy.  I know the cold season annuals will tank once the real heat turns on.  Just hate to pull plants that are blooming..  Gotta play doctor and have some patience!  Stay tuned!
