Hard To Think About Hurricanes...

Last week saw NHC issue. new information upgrading Hurricane Michael to a Cat. 5 at landfall.  It's hard to think about hurricanes at this time of the year since we still are enjoying cool nights and comfy warm days.   But every year in April the National Hurricane Conference meets to discuss the past season and what might happen during this coming summer.   This year's meeting will be held here in NOLA and I'll be there Tuesday through Thursday hoping to learn something that might be useful if a storm threatens us this season.  Several of the early outlooks ( pretty much useless) are indicating an average to slight below average year.   While we are enjoying a delightful Easter Sunday, it's hard to believe the 2019 hurricane season starts in 6 weeks.   Boo.

It will be hard to improve the weather for next weekend (JazzFest, Zurich Golf), but from what I'm seeing, it might be just as nice.   Monday should be near perfect before some clouds and low level moisture/humidity return on Tuesday & Wednesday.  Another upper disturbance should bring us some showers on Thursday, but this system should be to our east by early Friday clearing our skies and bringing back the good feel air.   Sometimes we get into a pattern where the rainy days come during the week leaving the weekend dry.  Let's hope that pattern continues for the next 2 weekends at least.  Stay tuned!
