Finally A Pattern Change...

What seems like 3+ weeks of daily tornado outbreaks is about to come to an end.  The upper pattern of west coast/Rockies trough and Upper SE ridge that has kept the central plains into the Ohio Valley stormy for weeks, will finally break down.  In fact, our upper flow will shift to the NW which will bring down a weak cool front into south LA/MS by Friday night.  There could be a few late PM daytime heating storms on Thursday, but the higher rain chances arrive on Friday into Saturday with the front.   We need the rain as the wet first 2 weeks in May flip-flopped into no rain for the last 2 weeks.   This pattern shift should also allow areas from Texas into Michigan to dry out.  But the damage from too much rainfall is already done as more crests are coming down the Ohio & lower Mississippi Rivers.    The Army Corps of Engineers will open the Morganza Spillway to help keep these new crests from adding to the nearly 17' level at the Carrollton gauge and I'm hearing the Bonnet Carre Spillway might have to stay open into July!   It has really altered the fishing patterns as all that fresh river water chases the speckle trout away.    Let's hope this coming drier pattern lasts several weeks as these high river levels are not good for us if an early season hurricane develops near us.  The FOX 8 hurricane special is Thursday night at 6:30 PM.  Stay tuned!
