Let me vent again because it just seems to me like the national media makes every/any weather event a major story like it has never happened before. That should bother many of you to wonder..."is there a hidden agenda here?" All we see in the newspapers are stories that the planet is on fire with NEVER any counterbalance. You have to search around on the net to find several websites that are not married to the global warming agenda. (ICECAP.org) I've stated my stance many times regarding the current warming CYCLE that we have been in since the early 80s. Sure man is contributing to a warmer climate through urbanization (higher nighttime lows), deforestation plus basic population increases. But I don't believe the "climate scientists" who say it's the CO2 that is driving the warming. That's too easy a solution. The Earth's climate is far too complex to be driven higher by a trace gas. But we could argue that point forever. Taking away/reducing the CO2 does not guarantee that the climate will cool. The climate has always been changing and will continue to do so. Before we jump into solutions that will mainly affect the poorest of the poor, think before you jump.
Let's get back to the overhype. Watching ABC's network news tonight, they claimed "2 out of every 3 Americans will be at heat risk." Really? Why? What happened to air conditioning? The "heat wave" is supposed to last 3 days. So what? Geez, does no one remember in 1980 when Dallas had 42 straight days over 100 !!! Or as my friend Joe D'Aleo with Weather Bell Analytics pointed out in his blog,.."People now can weather the worst of the heat with Air Conditioning". The Great New England Heat Wave in July of 1911 had Boston at 104, Bangor, ME. 106 and that heat lasted for 11 days. Nobody knew about AC back then and very few had electricity to run fans. Over 2,000 died back when the population was not that big. It has happened before, but let's stop the hyping of every weather event as "extreme". Hurricanes & tornadoes are not getting stronger. What is happening is cell phones (cameras) are getting more numerous. Love your thoughts, but no name calling please!
