Historically, the Final 10 days of July through the first week in August are our hottest time of the year. I've been hearing people complaining how hot it is, but Gang, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE HOT!
It's July, mid Summer, awful heat & humidity. October is coming, but we may not to have to wait that long for some relief. Long range computer models are bringing a heat wave for much of the country this week, BUT they forecast another huge dip in the upper steering for next week (Tarpon Rodeo Week) that could bring us some lower humidity for a couple of days. It'll still be hot, but just not as obnoxious. What I will be checking daily is to see if models start developing anything along the front (like Barry) once it reaches the Gulf. RIGHT NOW, no model has anything forming for the next 7-10+ days. Thursday & Friday will continue the trend of below normal PM showers, but there could be an uptick over the weekend into next week. IF a front makes it off our coast next week, it could mean northerly winds for Grand Isle making fishing the surf & beaches terrific. Too soon to tell for sure.
Speaking of Sure, I made a mistake yesterday saying the Rodeo will award $ 50 gift certificates for the top fish in each category courtesy of Safeway Super Market. My bad, I meant SUREWAY Super Market on Grand Isle. Safeway is a chain out west. Also, I forgot to announce we will have a Kayak division this year. The musical lineup is terrific each night and you can register by going to www.tarponrodeo.org. I'll get into who's playing each night as we get closer to the event. Our President this year is Jim Henderson and we invite you to come down for 1,2 or all 3 days. Last year CNBC's Jim Cramer (Mad Money) won a trophy. You never know who you could meet down on Grand Isle. Stay tuned!
