Not Much Has Changed...

When I last posted, we were way too way, there were many tropical systems, but there was no threat to the Gulf, and a cold front looked like it would get here Oct.3-4th.  Well, we are still too warm (92), the only tropical system is far out in the Atlantic and that weak front still may make it late this week.

I have been visiting my friends Phyllis & Stanley the past several days in he northern mountains of Georgia where the nights cooled into the 50s and the humidity far less.   It felt like October in the mornings, but even there the highs were 86-90.   We will not cool down until the upper air pattern changes.  Right now, a large high sits over the southeast with nothing but dry air.  The cold is out west where the northern Rockies are being covered in snow.  Note how chilly that part of the country is while the eastern 2/3 is summer-like.

Models currently are not showing any Gulf threat for the next 7-10 days.  Typically that would mean the "Fat lady" would be heading towards the stage.  However, I will be cautious this year since it has been so warm and water temps easily will support a strong storm if it got into the Gulf.  Once those fronts start coming,  I'll let you know we are safe from a strong threat for the rest of this season.  Until then, stay tuned!
