Record Hottest & Driest September...

Our local NWS office said that if we have no more rain for the rest of this month (very likely), September 2019 will be the driest on record.  In addition, they indicate with the continuation of our current heatwave into next week, this will be the hottest September on record.  This comes while this week the U.N. is holding their Climate Summit.  I have mentioned my views regarding climate CYCLES and the media bias in reporting on our current 30-year warm cycle.  USA Today is often one-sided regarding their reporting, often not allowing any opposing viewpoints.

However, they did have an interesting Op-Ed last Friday on deforestation as a big factor in climate change.  Since we know trees take in CO2, chopping down miles of forests has to be a major factor in our current warming cycle.

But all we hear about is the evil fossil fuels.  All I ask for is balance and finally USA Today did that.

Most of the Gulf remains quiet with only a slight (20) chance for development over the southern Gulf.  We should get to October without any new tropical threat.  Tropical Storm Jerry has weakened due to upper shear winds, while tropical Storm Karen is drenching Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

So the question is, will Karen survive and turn back to the U.S.?  Some models say maybe, some say no.  What I'm seeing is a REAL cold front reaching us Oct. 3-4th and that would block Karen from coming our way.  But until then, we will endure 90+ highs into next week.   I will be away from my computer for several days, unless something happens in the Gulf.   Should be back blogging late Sunday or Monday. Stay tuned!
