Tropical Storm Olga It Is...

Even though satellite pictures show a totally sheared, lopsided storm with colder air 25 miles NW of the center, NHC has upgraded TD 17 to Tropical Storm Olga.  They have nudged the track slightly closer to us but that really won't matter since this is a weak system.  The main threat will be more heavy rainfall, however, there are 2 bands with this system.  One is moving over the city now and we should get into a break shortly.   The second band should move across later tonight after 9 PM with all the rain east of us before daybreak meaning Saturday should see clearing skies , much less humid and slightly cooler temps.

Olga's forward motion has increased to 18 mph and she will be inland by daybreak Saturday.  Since all of the rain is on the north and east side, Saturday should turn out to be a very pleasant day.

Satellite loops clearly show the lopsided storm with all the T-Storms in the North and east quadrants.  Clearing skies have returned to most of Texas where temperatures, despite sunshine are only in the 50s & 60s.

I have dinner plans for tonight to celebrate Capt. Hylton's birthday and I don't intend to cancel as I see a break coming in the rain.  The second surge arrives between 11 & 4 AM when you will not want to be on the streets.    Our next concern will come next week when a really strong cold front will make for a very chilly Halloween.  Stay tuned!
