ABC's World News Tonight's lead story was about the "severe" Winter weather that caused a 50 car pile up outside of Denver. The trooper on the scene said drivers didn't adapt to the changing weather conditions (translation - continued to drive too fast) as 1-2" of snow fell. Geez, when is that severe or major? Look at my son's yard cam in Longmont, CO. at mid-afternoon.
When I was in my youth, we called that a dusting. Now every time it rains or snows, it's a major storm. There is a front coming before daybreak that will chill us some 10-15 degrees for Saturday and Sunday, but that will just bring us back to where we should be for late November. Our high of 82 today missed the record by 4 degrees (86) set in 2000. There are showers ahead of the front, but most of the rain probably will stay north of the Lake with the South Shore perhaps getting .25-.50" or less.
We'll see a nice stretch of weather here Saturday PM through Monday before a warm up comes for most of next week getting us back into the 70s each day. Morning fog could really start to be an issue by Wednesday. Travel before Thanksgiving across the South should have no major problems as temps will stay well above freezing. Flying to cities farther to the north could have troubles/delays as another storm system will be coming out of the Rockies. Stay tuned!
