So I visited the new MSY airport yesterday just to learn the "lay of the land" before I have to fly out next week. Wow, it really is a step up from the old digs to the south. It's bright and even has that new car smell to it. However, I did encounter several minor flaws. The light at Loyola off the interstate is on red too long. Traffic quickly backed up. Signage into the airport is easy to follow, but once into the parking garage it is not. There are these green LED lights that I'm not sure what they mean. The old garages actually had the number of open spaces available on each level. The new one does not. Exiting back out to pay was confusing since none of the booth signs were on. Perhaps I'm just a dummy who misses the obvious, but I'm sure some of you will encounter the same issues. All in all, I give it an A-. I'll check back with a new grade after I actually fly out & back next week.
It's amazing how cloudiness over the nation increases during the colder months. The term "SAD" (Seasonal Affected Disorder) comes from lack of sunshine making people feel sad. Clouds also make it much colder as you can see the cold air out west under the upper low pressure.
Our clouds have increased as we're in the warm air sector until the next front arrives early on Saturday. Look at the temperature difference from Dallas to Oklahoma City. The core of this next chill will not be as bad as the last one and Sunday & Monday will be delightful if dressed for the chill. Our only chance for some showers will be ahead of the front on Saturday morning. There will be a storm Thanksgiving week, but it's main affects will stay well to our north. More to come on that later. Stay tuned!
