The Trout Have Returned...

As promised, I'd have a fishing report for you this week.   After the Spillways 2 openings effectively killed any fishing for speckled trout in Lake P. and east of the River, I'm happy to report the trout have returned bigtime!  I was fishing with Capt. Johnny "Catfish" Lewis the past 2 days and can report we had the best fishing all year.   Monday we had our limit before 10 AM as the bite was fast & furious with most trout in the 15-18" range.  Today was not nearly as productive even though tides and the weather looked similar.  It's just nice to know Mother Nature, if given time, can heal herself.  FYI, we did have live shrimp, but I caught all my trout on plugs (Vudu Shrimp).  We truly are Sportsmen/women paradise!

My recent posts have talked about fog season and this morning had widespread fog all around Shell Beach.    With south winds bringing back low level moisture, expect the fog to get worse ahead of our next front.  Our quiet weather should last another 2 days with a gradual warming trend.

The next front will arrive late Friday into Saturday with some showers followed by a cooldown on Sunday into next week.   This will not be an Arctic Blast, but should get us back below normal again.  We have a new named storm called Sébastien that will stay out in the Atlantic.

TWC (The Weather Channel) was making a big deal about this being the 9th year with 18 or more named storms.  With the advancements in technology, it's difficult to compare history before the satellite era(1970) to what we have now.  Many storms had to be missed years ago.    I will start focusing on Thanksgiving week weather this weekend. Stay tuned!
