Climate Change Solutions...

In case you missed it, USA TODAY devoted their front page and other pages yesterday to the discussion regarding Climate Change.
Normally, that newspaper is way so one sided that you would thing it's all black & white with no gray in-between.   But not this time.   I thought they presented an informational graph that clearly showed why the Paris agreement had a big flaw.  Namely, allowing China to not have to do ANYTHING until after 2030 despite them being (by far) the World's biggest polluter.   If the whole World lowers their standard of living, but China is allowed to keep polluting, then nothing will happen regarding a warming planet.   China MUST be forced to be a part of a new World Climate agreement.  Otherwise, the agreement will not work.

Another graph clearly shows why changing over to "clean energy" in 12 years is a "fool of dreams".  Currently 80% of the United States energy needs are satisfied by fossil fuels with only 11% coming from wind & solar.  Our nation, in fact the World, runs on the premise of reliable & affordable fuel.   Some other kind of clean  energy must be discovered/invented in the coming decades if we are to solve the problem of a warming planet.   We should seek solutions that would not cripple the standard of living across the planet.  A final point that really surprised me.  USA TODAY printed huge headlines plugging nuclear power.
The accidents at 3 mile Island & Chernobyl happened 35-40 years ago.  Certainly the leaps in technology safety should make Nuclear Power a viable option.  Governments should be offering huge monetary incentives for inventors for solutions to a warming planet.     Instead, what we hear is Carbon Tax & Trade laws that won't reduce CO2 but will make some politicians richer.

Something to think about.  Every human inhales oxygen and exhales carbon dioxide.   The Earth's population in 1960 was about 3 billion people.   As of 2020, the Earth is nearing 8 billion people.  To those who say man is causing SOME of our current warming CYCLE, I totally agree.  But we must seek solutions that will not force more into poverty or make everyone miserable.   More thoughts and ideas on Climate Change will be coming in future posts.  Feel free to add you own.    Stay tuned!
