Disturbance In Southern Gulf Sunday?

I have mentioned in past posts, sometimes in May we get preseason spin ups along old frontal boundaries that push down into the Tropics.

The top picture shows today's satellite view with one front well off the east coast and another pushing through the Great Lakes down into the Deep South.  The first one didn't have enough support to sag into the Tropics, but the second one will.  There will be a third front over the weekend that will be the one to watch as several models are hinting that weak low pressure could try to develop over the extreme southern Gulf on Sunday.  It's only one model run and, if something were to form, we would be protected by a huge surface high that would block any northward movement.  Plenty of time to watch as we head into the weekend.  Being that it's Hurricane Preparedness Week, we might as well start gearing up for the coming season.

The current surface map has a weak front across north Louisiana that will reach the coast after daybreak on Wednesday.  There might be a stray shower with the front, but rain chances are not very high.  Wednesday and Thursday will be slightly cooler but way drier as the good feel air returns.  We'll see a brief warm up on Friday before a stronger cold front sweeps thru on Saturday pushing all the way down into the southern Gulf.  Sunday through next Tuesday should see more great feeling air with nights in the 40s north of Lake P.

Once these clouds clear us tomorrow, I'll try to have a tight satellite pic of Lake P, to see if the Lake is clearing up with the Spillway closed.  FOX 8 showed video from along the North Shore where there is a big green slimy algae bloom going on right no.  Finally, this is from Henry my Hibiscus who is in full bloom. Too bad they only last a day as they are so pretty.  Stay tuned!
