One thing I really enjoy in retirement is fishing more often. The past two days I was out with Capt. Hylton Petit fishing out of Shell Beach, where the sunset was spectacular! (Note the NOAA Weather station tower) We also ran into an unexpected visitor too.
It was only about 4 feet long, but the alligator was not what we were trying to catch! Not the greatest fishing trip (10 keeper trout), but always relaxing & enjoyable being out on the water.
the current weather map remains unchanged from the past couple of days. We have no fronts around, we still have the upper low ,now centered in Virginia, producing clouds and showers over the eastern states. Note how cool the temps are (60s & 70s) compared to areas away from the upper low. We were back into the 90s again, but the dew points in the low 60s didn't make it feel too bad. Over time, we'll see low level moisture return as we head into the weekend and next week. Aside from typical pop up summer storms, our weather will be pretty quiet.
Several posts back I talked about the plume of African Dust (Saharan Air Layer SAL) spilling out over the Atlantic. NOAA finally came out yesterday saying this will tamper down any Tropical activity for the next 1=2 weeks. We all would like to see it last longer (2-3 months!) since the last thing we need this summer is a hurricane threat. Stay tuned!
