It's the Heat Stupid, or is it the HUMIDITY?

It's a rare summer afternoon that sees few if any showers/T-Storms.  Typically, coverage is around 40-50% and that keeps us from getting extremely hot.  But today is not a typical summer day.

There is a T-Storm complex just east of Natchez moving to the SE and that could provide some relief to the North Shore by late today.  You can see how clear it is to the NE across MS/AL and over to the beaches with only a few clouds across SE LA.

Our current 3 pm reading of 98 is the hottest so far this year, but the 78 dew point makes it feel like 115 !!!  That's in the dangerous range if you are working or playing outside.   The weather map shows a cold front near us, but you can see it's only a boundary between slightly drier air compared to our obnoxious muggy feel.

There may be some subtle daily changes into next week, but I don't think most of us will know it.  The heat wave will be the main story maker for awhile.  At least the Tropics are quiet.

More Saharan dust is streaming over the Atlantic and that should keep things quiet for the next 7-10 days.  If something would develop, it would happen closer in along the east coast and not be our concern. The Pacific has a weakening Tropical Storm Cristina, but even over there it's pretty quiet.  Stay safe during these hot days.  Stay tuned!
