Marco Fading, Focus On Laura...

Last night I noticed that the convection (T-Storms) with Marco was decoupling (moving away) from the center of rotation which clearly can be seen on our daylight satellite loops.  That usually means a weakening system and NHC lowered his max. wind speeds to 50 mph.  On their discussion they mentioned that those 50 mph speeds were not around the center, but with the T-Storms moving on shore over the Florida beaches.

Boothville had a gust to 31 mph and they are only about 60 miles from the center.  I still see a mainly northward motion on satellite and radar and my thinking is the center will pass just to the east of NOLA and then on across the North Shore.  NHC is sticking to their track just south of NOLA, but at this stage, it really won't matter since there will be very little left of Marco as it moves inland.

What's left of Marco will not have any major impacts on SE LA.  South Mississippi & Alabama could get into the heavy rain shield now in Florida, but I suspect much of that will slowly diminish during the day today.  Our focus now turns to Tropical Storm Laura.

Compared to yesterday, Laura's satellite presentation is way less impressive possibly dur to land interaction with Cuba and some northerly wind shear that blew to the south the strongest storms away from the center.  However, note there is a new burst of storms near the center.  The NHC center line track didn't change from this morning and keeps aiming the major impact threat to southwest LA. and the upper Texas coast.

Some key points to follow today and tomorrow...forward motion is currently 20 mph, which is quite fast for any change in direction.   We want Laura to keep that fast forward speed.  The farther to the west it goes, the less her threat to SE LA/MS.   How much of western Cuba will she cross?  If she misses the western tip entirely, that would be outside the southern part of the NHC cone and they likely would adjust their track farther to the west (away from us).  I'm feeling slightly less nervous now than I did last night and this morning.  However, she hasn't even reached the Gulf yet.  The next 24 hours will decide if we need to worry about Laura.
The rest of the Tropics look quiet .  Next update coming after 4 PM.  Stay tuned!

Well there you ago it turns out yes Marco is going west even though Bob questioned why NHC was ignoring the obvious as he stated and that is was going East ... not. Now that is has egg in his face now he suddenly was to say it doesn’t matter since Marco is diminishing as time goes.

Thank you, Mr. Breck. We lost our home 15 years ago this week. We live in another state. I still call NOLA home. My dear ones remain in LA. Your blog is a comfort.

Get off the site hater...

Bob I always appreciated your candor good or bad. Most meteorologist play up these storms for ratings. You really never did. You are like ole Buddy D, who told us like it is.

Trolling is not very becoming, Mr. Anon... Perhaps your energies could be used for something positive! I'm sorry you feel you have to degrade someone that has spent the last four decades trying to keep us all safe. Thank you, Bob! You're the best!

What’s your thought on Laura possibly following the great Galveston storm

Looks like that “anonymous” person struck a nerve when they point out that Bob really isn’t all that he pretends to be. I know I get tired of his attitude towards others making forecasts and when they are incorrect but then he does that exact same thing.

Apparently he does not. He just posted that basically the NHC is ignoring the obvious move of Marco the east and not west. Turns out he was very wrong. From watching Bob for the past couple of decades he only gives a decent forecast when the storm is just a day out from land fall. As someone mentioned before he was way off with Katrina.

Agree Bob just needs to forecast without putting down other forecasters. Have noticed he constantly changes his forecast and ignores the errors then acts like he called the storm correct from day one.

Thanks Bob

"Egg On The Face" is for NHC not Bob, Bob we trust to call it as it is, not so much NHC.
