Another Fish Story?

In my last post, before I went fishing, I mentioned we might have 2 new named storms with one off the East Coast and another down in the Caribbean.  But first the fish story.

Since I knew we would not have any threat from either of the two new storms, I went fishing with Capt. Hylton Petit out of Shell Beach.   Our goal is trout & redfish, but the little fella keeps hooking up with big fish, this one a 24 lb, 2 oz Jack Crevelle that took 18 minutes to land on 12 lb test line & light tackle.  It circled the boat 5 times and wore me out!  Of course we released him.  Now on to the Tropics.

Tropical Storm Nana was named this afternoon and is expected to become a Hurricane before slamming into the Belize coast line.  Tropical Storm Omar followed shortly after and is another waste of a name since the center is already exposed due to strong westerly wind shear.  He will not affect any land areas.

The way things are shaping up, the MJO going into the unfavorable (sinking air) phase, an early September cold front, has me excited to think the next 2 week (or more) should see no tropical threats here.

It is getting colder up in Canada, but don't expect the cooling to reach us until after the 10th.  Even then it will be slightly cooler (80s) but much drier.

As the fronts start plowing into the southern heat & humidity, expect widespread heavy rains to break out, especially as the fronts tend to slow down and stall across the deep South.  In the short term, we have an upper ridge that has lowered our rain chances for the next couple of days.

I mentioned yesterday that September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and that Sept. 6th is the 26th anniversary of CAPS FOR KIDS, a national non-profit for children battling cancer.  Brenda & I are passionate supporters of this locally based organization that served over 150 pediatric oncology hospitals in the U.S. You can learn more about what they do at the following link.

We are asking you to "Give a High Five" by donating $ 5 (or more) to help Caps For Kids connect more children battling cancer with their "Cap Hero".  Click on the link below to donate.

We're proud to have FOX 8 join us as the local media partner and thank you for any support you can give.  Next post during the day on Wednesday.  Stay tuned!

Bob don’t rely on the models this season in reference to any future tropical development. They have performed horribly 5 days or more out. They didn’y even seen Laura becoming what she did 2 days out.

Thank you Bob Breck. For me, getting out on the water is very invigorating.
