Beta making the Turn to West...

Looking at the satellite loops revel 2 things.  1) Wind shear has blown all the T-Storms away from the center of Beta exposing its circulation and 2) new storms are starting to fire off around the center.

The 4 AM NHC center line track has no major changes as they turn Beta to the west and head it to Texas.  As the models have done all along, Beta is expected to briefly stall (unlike Harvey which stalled for days) and then begin a drift back to the NNE.

A couple of things to point out...1) we are now in the cone of error/uncertainty, and 2) the center line track keeps Beta off shore and over the warm waters of the Gulf,  PLUS 3) we will remain on the "wet side".  As you know, much like Sally, areas far to the east of the center are getting in on the rainfall.  The rain total prediction is lowered for the next 7 days (15-20" last night), but torals of 10-15"+ are still quite possible.

The good news for us is that we have cooler and drier air RIGHT NOW that SHOULD prevent Beta from coming towards LA.

Dew points have dropped into the 50s & 60s  and that will hopefully keep Beta from becoming a major storm.  Note the center of the high has shifted from Wisconsin last night to Michigan this morning.  As the high pulls away, there will be an opening next week for Beat to make its move to the north.  The Euro model brings Beta to the Texas coast as a strong system, but then weakens it as it moves back to the NE.

IF that happens, we still will be on the "wet side" so the next 5 days do not look pretty.   Today is in the dumper/dumpster and I hope you have a good book to read.

Both sides of the Lake are wet, but the heavier rains should stay south of NOLA.

Coastal flooding won't get worse until our NNE winds shift back to the ESE then SSE over time.  This will be a long stretch of ugly weather, but FOR NOW, doesn't look anything like Laura or Sally.  Next update before noon.  Stay tuned!

Thank you as always Bob, your work is cherished and means so much to us here. I don't know who this cowardly "unknown" troll is who keeps posting on your site but I'm guessing that their unproductive and just downright stupid behaviors gets them in enough life trouble already
to where I don't even have to wish them unwell.
