David Said What's Up in Gulf...

I had not planned on doing another update tonight...until i saw David's 9 PM broadcast where he show NHC highlighting a new area to watch east of Florida.  They indicate something might form (low chance 20%) this weekend and move into the eastern Gulf.

It's really hard to tell anything on the infrared satellite views when there is no well organized system.  We have several clusters of storms over Florida and perhaps the hint of a swirl east of the Bahamas.   I go back to the MJO being in the unfavorable (sinking air) phase.  IF something were to develop, the process will be slow and none of the models have jumped on it yet.  There is a strong cold front that will stall to our west before "washing out" and as David pointed out, we'll probably see a ramp up in our rain chances beginning on Friday and continuing into next week.  Right now I'm not overly concerned since surface pressures are high across the Gulf.  We'll give it another look tomorrow after we can see some daylight satellite views that show the low level cloud flow better than the infrared views.

You can see 5 cloud clusters in the above view.  The 2 out over the Atlantic are Tropical Storms (Paulette & Rene) and it appears Sally & Teddy may not be far behind.  Right now, none of these appear to be on a track that would impact the Gulf, so our focus will be on anything closer in.  Stay tuned!
