Will The Cold Front Make it?

Since the Tropics are currently snoozing, most of you want to know...Are we going to see any cooler air next week?   Lets first look at the current set up.

There is a stalled front across Texas wandering up into the northeast.  The air behind this front is only slightly cooler, but look at the dew points.  Ahead of the front they're in the 70s but dip into the 40s & 50s behind it.  That's the feel good air.   This is not the front that might bring us any cooler relief.
There still is a battle ground along the front with more showers/T-Storms falling over the same areas that are already soaked.  Behind the front are clear skies with no signs of the next front yet.   Computer models have been hinting that a deep trough would form over the eastern states bringing cooler air all the way down to the Gulf Coast.  Each model run has been less aggressive on the trough digging down to us, hence the chances for cooler relief are not as solid as they were earlier in the week.  IF a cold front is to make it to us, it won't arrive before Thursday or Friday.

NHC is still indicating 3 areas to watch way out in the Atlantic, but none of them look to be developing at this time.   There are 2 areas in the Caribbean that bear watching.

One swirl is over the far eastern Caribbean with a few storms around a surface rotation. The bigger blob south of Haiti has a mid level swirl, but NHC is not mentioning these areas yet..   Why should they since the MJO has gone into the unfavorable (sinking air) phase. Another blob is in the western Gulf, but pressures are high and nothing should happen there.  The unfavorable phase of the MJO should limit tropical development for the next 2-3 weeks.  There could be some weak storms, but nothing should become major.

Finally, here's another group of meteorologists that were part of my weather team.  Chris Franklin is now the Chief Meteorologist at Ch. 4. Dawn Brown left to be with her husband who took a weather position in Baltimore while Nicondra Norwood still is the weekend Meteorologist on FOX 8.  Kim Vaughn is living up in Covington while doing environmental engineering work.  Another talented group that made me look better.  Next update Tomorrow, unless something springs to life.  Stay tuned!
