Brief Fall Feel Won't Last

Many spots across the North shore dipped into the 40s this morning with some 50s south of Lake P,  Unfortunately for many of you, the chill will not linger as winds are already turning back off the Gulf.

Dew points in the 40s here will quickly jump back into the 60s by Sunday afternoon and, with temps rising back to 80+, it'll feel like summer again.  

As the surface high drifts out into the Atlantic, the next front over the northern plains will run out of upper support and not make it down to us.  Too bad, since there is lots of really cold air behing that front with all of the blueish colors on radar being snow.  It has to get colder up north before we can see cooler air reach us.  Most of Canada is now below freezing with Alaska starting to show some single digits.

Since none of that cold is coming here, satellite views show the cloud cover/moisture surging in from the Gulf around the backside of the surface high.  It appears our next real front won't arrive until after NEXT weekend.

NHC is still highlighting 2 areas for possible development with the system east of Bermuda having the higher chance.   The area over the Caribbean is not there yet, but computer models indicate something will form in the 10-14 day time frame..  In fact look at the GFS (American) model for 10=12 days from now.

By then, another cold front will be coming blocking any northward movement.  In addition, look at the oceanic heat Content/Energy Potential that shows how much cooler the Gulf has become.   I have no doubts we'll have another 2 named storms within a week tying 2020 with 2005 for most active season (28).
