Hurricane Epsilon Strengthens to Cat. 3...

NHC has said over and over that they are much improved in their future TRACK forecasts, but not so much regarding their INTENSITY forecast.  Case in point is hurricane epsilon that was expected to become at most a Cat. 2 hurricane as it brushes Bermuda.  But satellite views confirm that Epsilon has rapidly intensified and is now a Cat. 3 storm.

It should stay far enough east of Bermuda to not cause any major impacts.

NHC is again highlighting an area in the NW Caribbean, but now they expect anything that forms will be steered to the NE away from the Gulf & us.   Our tropical season is over as models are bringing down a "real deal" cold front before Halloween that will have us going for the sweaters and coats.  That's still a week away and we'll be summer like until then.

The northern states have gone into their winter mode with record snowfall for late October.  Look at the temperature contrast north of the front.   Burrr!

We saw some clouds bubble up during daytime heating as we hit 85 again.  The problem is the high dew points that aren't as bad as August, but near 70 make us all feel uncomfortable.  Real Fall is coming, but not until next week.  Stay tuned!
