In fact, some of you are still in the eyewall as the center is still crossing the city. Fortunately, the back side appears to have very little rainfall with it as most of us have received 2-4"+. There will be more gusty winds kick in as Zeta pulls away now racing to the NE at 25 mph. Local conditions will greatly improve after 9 PM. Here are some satellite views tracking the eye as it moved inland.
It appears it reached the coast just west of Port. Fourchon, crossed Golden Meadow and Lafitte, over Belle Chasse and Shell Beach and out over Lake Borgne heading towards Waveland.
Winds just kicked back up at my Metairie home where my power went out at 5:40 PM. For those of you without generators, Entergy will not be able to send crews out much before midnight so it will be awhile before you get power back. Note the cold air coming from the west. It'll be here after midnight.
Finally, the top photo shows 3 large potted ferns in front of my house. These easily weigh 40-50 lbs each. The bottom pic shows what happens during the eyewall. This is my second "real" eyewall experience (Katrina being the first) and all I can say for future storms is...RESPECT THE EYEWALL. I'll try to post again after the 10 pm advisory. Thanks to all of you who have stayed tuned! For the third straight month our "hit/page count has exceeded one million views and I thank you for your support.

Thank you Bob. We count on your forecast.
Thanks Bob for staying with us and keeping us informed.....Stay Safe....
Thanks Bob!!
Thank you Bob, always read and appreciate your perspective.
And to the critics....it did jog a little to East when hitting the city and over Lake putting Slidell slightly on the west side...I think it made a difference!...bottom line....you were right Bob!!! Thank You!
Certainly do appreciate your updates
Thanks Bob!
Bob, Can youo explain please why the back side was so much worse than the leading edge of the eye? I mean, WOW, I bet we had 80 mph gust or better after the calm of the eye passed in Metaire. Actually, Bucktown, USA
Thanks

L u c k y it was a fast mover. IT could have been a lot worse.
Can't make this stuff up.... less than a week ago it was said by a certain person it would not form, IF it did it was going East over Florida, would not be a Gulf problem, we are protected by cool waters and front, yadda yadda yadda... AND what happens we take a direct hit from a 110 mph Hurricane (1 mph from being a MAJOR storm) and some how praise and thanks are shed to this person??? Feels like I'm watching CNN cover for Biden.
Meteorologists work to PREDICT storms. It is not always certain that their predictions will be true. This storm was unlike any other, it was extremely fast, which made the cool water pointless. Bob did his job. If you don’t like it, Margaret Orr is waiting on channel 6.
Thanks for being all the updates Bob.
How do trolls end up on a blog of a retired local meteorologist? Why don't they stay on their rightful places like Facebook and Twitter? Have their accounts been cancelled?
Zeta broke all the rules, just like breaking the rules of civility by the trolls. Do you guys have a blog with over a million hits per month? I suppose you guys are perfect? OK. I bit. Just what the tolls wanted. But I feel better.
Keep the posts coming, Bob. I'll take your analysis over the NHC any day. Experience counts!

I always check this blog before I check “the news.” You were always my favorite, but after Katrina, it was solidified even more. Stay with us, Bob. You’re “our” meteorologist and always will be!
Power went out when the eyewall came through the quarter at 6:00...now back on. Fast moving storm probably saved a lot of additional problems. Looking forward to cooler weather...
Kudos to Joe in Hammond! Good question. How and why do trolls end up pissing at a man who spends so much personal time to inform the public about a very serious situation.
And, Cover6, lose the URL and find someone else to bully. All of you ungrateful trolls...get a life. Have any of you learned that you can't tell Mother Nature what to do. I'm willing to bet, and believe me, I am a betting man, that Bob does not have a hotline straight to God or Mother Nature.

Fat Lady got the last laugh on Bob. When they do a reanalysis on all of the storms of 2020 I‘m pretty sure Zeta will be upgraded to a Cat 3 hurricane.
Folks have had way too many Daiquiri's.. Zeta didn't break any of the "rules" did exactly what it was forecasted to do by the NHC. Bob now he broke all the rules of a seasoned professional meteorologist by claiming several weeks ago that the FAT LADY has he put it sang, claimed Tropical threats would be over with cold front that would come down and protect us, claim IF this system formed it would not be a Gulf storm, claimed it would go EAST. Amazing the amount of delusional post here claiming opposite. Good stuff.. AND not just with Zeta pretty much EVERY tropical system this year and many of past years.
Believe the point these trolls are making is that yes Bob likes to take unnecessary shots at other news stations and their weather folks but he himself isn't exactly a Tropical system guru himself. Let's be honest pretty much every system he forecasted this year was poor and that's being generous. NHC has done very well this year but unfortunately people tend to only look at their graphics and don't read the accompany discussions.

Why don't u man up and give us a name to call u out. This guy spends his own time giving us his expert analysis. We trusted him while he was on the air, and we still value his experience and analysis. Keep it coming Bob.
I like his explanations and his sense of not panicking. this storm came in and moved out quickly, thank heavens. Just don't read if you disagree. Very simple solution. I say "Geaux" Bob!!!
Bob actually was correct, and also Zeta was completely unprecedented, on several counts. Yes, the cold front made a huge difference. It caused the storm to move much more quickly than any other storm that I can remember and there was hardly any flooding. Also, if the timing had been even slightly different with the front arriving just a few hours sooner then the storm definitely would have been pushed off to Alabama or Florida. Also, when before has there been any hurricane making landfall in Louisiana even in mid-October, much less right before Halloween? Last I can recall was in 1985 but that one wasn't anywhere near Zeta in terms of intensity.
