Rainy Days & Mondays Get Me Down...

Back in 1971, the late Karen Carpenter had a hit song that will echo my feelings this Monday.  Yea, today was bright sunshine, but clouds will return on Sunday with a cold rain arriving after midnight into much of Monday.

The bottom graphic is valid for Sunday at 6 PM and the blue colors indicate snow for areas to our north & west.   In fact, nothing has changed in the thinking from what Bruce Katz showed on Friday.

Snow will get close to us, but all we'll get is a cold, miserable, ugly rainy Monday as highs will struggle in the lower 40s at best.

With dew points in the 20s & clear skies, look for another night of very cold temperatures.  In fact, the cold air covers most of the nation spreading down over the Gulf and into the Yucatan.  You can see the brighter white cold air clouds streaming northward over the western Gulf into the next storm coming out of the rockies.

We are locked into a chilly pattern that will last another 7-10+ days.  Fortunately the cold air coming out of Canada is not super cold since the upper level trough over most of the eastern states will linger.  After all, it is January, Winter is supposed to be cold and, if we dress for it, the air can feel kind of refreshing after our 6 months of heat.   That's if it's sunny out, but Monday will be cold & rainy, hence, I'll be feeling down.  Stay tuned & Go Saints!
