To Snow Or Not To Snow?

I know many of you would love to see a little snow here since it happens so infrequently.  We have gone into a colder pattern, however, I don't believe we will be cold enough when our next upper disturbance arrives Sunday night into Monday.

Sure it's seasonally cold in Canada, but the super cold from several weeks ago is gone.  When Montana is in the 40s, Denver almost as mild as us, even above freezing in Green Bay, it just tells me those of us over south LA/MS. will stay a cold rain.

The current surface map does have a rain maker over the South with some snow along the northern edge.  The next storm is out over Montana and it is expected to take a track farther to the south that will bring snow into north Louisiana/Mississippi.   Bruce Katz used a nice graphic that clearly has the snow staying north of us.

So those of you who want to go play in the white stuff, head to Monroe or north of Jackson late Sunday or on Monday.  Right now, I don't see it happening here.  Sorry.

I'm just trying to figure out when the clouds will break allowing us to see the sun again.  I suspect it may take until the afternoon on Friday for the clearing to reach us.  Saturday should be sunny before the clouds return on Sunday with a cold rain late lingering into Monday.

The FOX 8 7 day lays out the timing indicating several nights below freezing on the North Shore.  I have moved my Shrimp plants inside my He-Shed since they can't take temps in the 30s.  The other plants I'm leaving outside for now.  Later this month, long range computer models are hinting a freeze for all of the Deep South after Jan. 20th.  We have time to watch that.

Finally, your little fella received his 1st Covid-19 vaccination this morning. at Ochsner's main campus.  Since I'm 73, I met the age qualifications and, thanks to my wife Brenda's computer skills. she got me an early appointment with the 2nd shot 3 weeks from now.  The process went without a hitch as Ochsner was totally prepared and has a system in place that worked flawlessly.  Bravo Ochsner!   Now I only hope the vaccine works!  Stay tuned!
