Western Storm Gets Ready to Head East...

Perhaps you've seen the videos of the 5-10 feet of snow dumped on the higher elevations of California with heavy rainfall at lower elevations.  Models continue to bring that system across the country over the weekend turning it into a real Nor'Easter for early next week.

With the surface low predicted to go well to our north over the weekend, we'll see a warm up to 70+ for Saturday & Sunday.   A cold front will bring us a few showers early on Sunday with the real colder air arriving after dark Sunday night.  Monday and Tuesday will be sunny, but chilly with highs only in the 50s.

Once the surface high moves to our east, winds return off the Gulf bringing back clouds and humidity.  You can see that on this afternoon's satellite views.

Today was a pretty day as long as you were dressed for it.  You'll notice a difference feel to the air by Saturday afternoon as our light and variable winds start cranking from the south.   West winds will arrive behind the front on Sunday before they become northerly after dark.   We are in the time of the year when temperatures get on roller coaster rides up and down.  Compared to folks up north, our weekend will be very nice for late January.   Models aren't as bullish today about bringing down the Arctic cold for early February, but that is likely to flip flop over the next 10-14 days.  For weather nerds, this is a fun time of the year.   Stay tuned!
