If It's Sunday, It best be Sunny...

For many, Sunday means Church, family brunch, Golf or fishing.  It's always nicer when the sun is shining and tomorrow will do just that.  We have a weak area of low pressure down over the eastern Gulf with a big ridge of high pressure to our NNE.  The resulting wind flow has brought down a nose of very dry air and clear skies.

You can see dew points in the 20s across the North Shore as yesterday's muggies have been sweep away down into the Gulf.  After a chilly start in the 40s, highs will quickly warm to 65-70 with all day sunshine.

In fact, for most of next week our weather should stay boring with only a slow warm up.  No fronts are expected as there are no systems coming in from the West Coast and the real chilly air over the Northeast will be on full retreat.

Finally, the local NWS website has a click on talking about the return of the Audubon Park automated weather station.  Normally, I would be thrilled to have it back since weather records there began way back in the late 1890s compared to MSY's that started in 1946.

However, if you look at its location/siting you can see buildings and a parking lot to the east-southeast and a paved roadway to the west.  That should result in readings higher than if in the middle of Audubon Park.    We all know that the building of the new MSY airport around the weather station there has resulted in higher readings.  So the higher trend show continue for New Orleans.  Stay tuned!
