Running Out of April To Break Wettest Record...

This morning's heavy showers stayed north of Lake Pontchartrain with MSY only recording .01" with amounts across the Lake were 1-2".  So after jumping into the top 5 wettest Aprils ever, it is getting less likely we will challenge for number one.   Right now we sit at 12.85" and need another 3.28" to become # one.

A weak cold front is about to move across us later this evening bringing drier air that should make tomorrow feel great.  You can see the wind shift approaching Baton Rouge with highs soaring into the middle 80s ahead of it.

Dew points have dropped back into the 60s and should tumble into the 50s for Sunday & Monday.  With bright sunshine, that dry air should quickly warm back up to 80+.  Our next(and final)real rain opportunity for April will arrive for Thursday into Friday.    It's too soon to know if there will be a severe weather threat with that system.

So while we enjoy a stretch of dry weather, rain has returned to the West coast.  Hopefully this is the first of several system that'll bring some rain since much of the Rockies to the West Coast is still in drought with the summer fire season just around the corner.
