Here We Go Again, 9th Wettest May

After getting over a foot of rain last month, May continues the wet trend as today's rainfall of nearly 2 " has pushed MSY into the top ten (#9) wettest Mays, and we're not even halfway thru the month!  Right now we are in-between rounds of storms with our next bout forming across Texas aiming to arrive here in the early morning hours.  Unofficially, I have MSY at 9.44" and we should easily blast into the top 5 with our next round on Wednesday.

We have a stalled frontal boundary just to our north with upper disturbances moving west to east along it.

North of the boundary, it's chilly (50s & 60s) while south has that sticky feel with dew points near or above 70.

Note Houston has jumped to 86 with some sun, but satellite views show clouds will dominate us again on Wednesday.   After that next disturbance swings through, it should be enough to drag the front on to our south making for several sunny, dry & delightful days.  But we have to get past Wednesday first.

If all of this rain has gotten you down, look at this next picture.

Yea, it's May 11th and it's still SNOWING!  This is from my daughter-in-law's (Sarah) Mom's house in Evergreen, CO at an elevation of 7,500 feet.  I was there once and it is absolutely beautiful.  However, it was June and the Temps. were in the 70s.  This old man can't stand the cold anymore!  Stay tuned and get ready for more rain tonight and tomorrow!

No warning from anyone about the severe weather last night. I think the NWS was sleeping on the job.
