Sub-Tropical Storm Ana Is named...

As no surprise, NHC has named the season's first storm making this the 7th straight year for a May named storm.  Sub-Tropical means it has yet to develop a warm core around the middle and is more a reflection of the cold Upper low over it.  If it develops more storms around it today, the sub category will be dropped.  That could be a struggle since it's over fairly cool waters (70s).

As you can see, Ana will head back out into the Atlantic only briefly impacting Bermuda today.
The system in the Gulf has moved inland and is now east of San Antonio leaving behind a trail of tropical moisture over the Gulf.

Drier air is pushing westward taking the rains into Texas leaving us with many sunny breaks today.  As the high drifts over us, surface winds will slowly come down allowing water levels to finally recede.

With lots of sunshine and lighter winds, look for high temperatures to approach 90, which it typical for this time of the year.  Last night, David said the average/normal date for our first 90 degree day is May 18th and we have passed that time.   Get use to it Gang.   It's called Summer in the South and will last for the next 16 weeks/4months.  However, enjoy this weekend because it won't be totally brutal just yet, especially at night.  Stay tuned!
